Tuna Hunter fishing charter boat is a 36-foot custom Runaway sportfishing machine. She was built by fishermen for fishermen – designed and equipped to meet the demands bluefin and yellowfin tuna fishing along the Atlantic coast, from the Jersey shore to the Canyons to Montauk, Point Judith, Chatham, Gloucester, and beyond. Hull, motors, cockpit layout, console electronics, and tower were all designed for productive fishing.
Captain Gary helped build Tuna Hunter and has meticulously operated and maintained her as owner /captain since 1984.
Tuna Hunter has an open cockpit for maximum fishing area and a tuna tower for maximum visibility while spotting fish – stripers, giants and school bluefin tuna. She is powered with twin Volvo TAMD 240’s.
Comfortable above and below Great design continues below decks, where there are twin bunks, a dining table, galley and an enclosed fully-operational marine head. And storage for fishing gear and tackle for all and any fish that may be encountered: Penn 130’s for shark and giant bluefin to cod sticks to fly rods – we are ready for anything!
Gloucester Deep Sea Fishing
Captain Gary Cannell has been fishing his entire life – he has been U.S. Coast guard licensed since 1984 (License # 777397). Gary has extensive experience deep sea fishing in waters from Maine to the Bahamas, as far as 100 miles offshore.
He is known for his expertise with Striped Bass, Cod, Sharks, and Giant Bluefin Tuna. Originally from New Jersey, Capt. Gary learned and perfected the art and science of giant bluefin tuna fishing. Tuna Hunter would follow bluefin tuna up and down the New England coast each season, frequenting Brielle/Manasquan, NJ, Montauk, NY, Point Judith, RI and Chatham and Gloucester, MA. Captain Gary and Tuna Hunter moved to Gloucester in 1995 when caught and landed by a mermaid.
When not hunting, Gary is tuna fishing, bass fishing, cod fishing, fly fishing. diving or ice fishing. Come fall and winter, Gary is hunting birds, deer or elk. He is always searching for new Gloucester fishing hot sports, new techniques, and new ways to get fishing to bite – always hunting and fishing in some way or manner.
